Centre clears E100 fuel for flex-fuel vehicles
The road transport ministry has amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules to add E100, near-pure ethanol, as an approved fuel alongside E85 for flex-fuel vehicles, effective immediately from its October 26 gazette publication. Only vehicles designed and certified for high-ethanol blends may use them; regular petrol cars running on the nationwide E20 blend cannot switch without certification.
