NASA seeks fresh ideas to save the ageing Hubble telescope
NASA has issued a request for information asking commercial companies how it could reboost, service or safely dispose of the Hubble Space Telescope. After 36 years in orbit, Hubble is steadily losing altitude and could fall back into the atmosphere in the early-to-mid 2030s. Its orbit was last raised in 2002 by Space Shuttle Columbia, and a similar request four years ago went nowhere.
