Seven empty coaches roll 6 km without engine, derail in Tamil Nadu

Seven empty railway coaches rolled away unattended from the yard at Jolarpettai Junction in Tamil Nadu's Tirupattur district and travelled nearly six kilometres before derailing near Thamaleri Muthur. Services between Bengaluru and Chennai were disrupted. A gatekeeper who heard the noise alerted officials, and approaching trains were halted. Preliminary findings suggest the coaches, kept for repairs, were not properly secured.
