Rising costs drive surge in abandoned cats at UK shelter

An RSPCA branch in Coventry says it cared for 399 cats and kittens this summer, 150 more than last year, blaming rising costs including neutering, which leads to more kittens. The independently run shelter costs £40,000 a month, is full with 80 cats and has 130 people waiting to surrender pets. The RSPCA warns of a national 'cat crisis'.
