SC names ex-judge Ranjana Desai mediator in ONGC-RIL gas dispute

The Supreme Court has appointed former judge Ranjana Prakash Desai as sole mediator in the long-running Krishna-Godavari basin gas migration dispute between the Centre and a Reliance Industries-led consortium, after settlement talks failed. A bench led by CJI Surya Kant asked her to take help from two domain experts, one nominated by each side. The row over gas extraction also involves state-run ONGC.
