Attappady tribal hospital to get specialists, newborn care block

Kerala will add paediatricians, gynaecologists and anaesthesiologists at the Tribal Taluk Specialty Hospital in Kottathara, Attappady, Health Minister K Muraleedharan announced after a review visit. A NABARD-assisted block with newborn care and an emergency operation theatre will be built, along with a paediatric ambulance and mobile medical unit. The move follows criticism over a series of tribal infant deaths.
