Living alone raises death risk more for under-65s than seniors: study
A study of more than 598,000 US adults in the International Journal of Epidemiology found living alone raised overall death risk by 22% for people aged 18 to 64, against 6% for those 65 and older. Younger people living alone faced more deaths from suicide, heart disease and diabetes. Researchers linked much of the risk to smoking, heavy drinking and fewer check-ups.
