Economists Gurumurthy, Shamika Ravi depose before panel on simultaneous polls

Economists including S. Gurumurthy and Shamika Ravi appeared on Friday before the joint parliamentary committee examining Bills for simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, Assemblies and local bodies. Committee chairman and BJP MP P.P. Chaudhary called their inputs valuable. The Bills, introduced in December 2024, follow recommendations of a panel headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind.
