Arctic ice cap was growing for centuries until warming reversed it, study finds
A study published in Science on October 22 found that the Barnes Ice Cap on Baffin Island, a remnant of the ancient Laurentide ice sheet, had been re-expanding for about 2,000 years and reached its greatest extent around 1960. Since then it has been retreating, a reversal the researchers attribute to greenhouse gas-driven warming.
