Sahara meteorite reveals a 4.1-billion-year-old piece of Mars' crust
A Martian meteorite named Teghaza 001, found in the Sahara Desert in Mali in 2022, formed at least 4.1 billion years ago, a team led by NASA JPL scientist Yang Liu has shown. It is only the third genuinely ancient Martian meteorite known, after Allan Hills 84001 and 'Black Beauty'. Most Martian meteorites on Earth are 2.4 billion years old or younger.
