A miniature therapy horse that comforts veterans in psychiatric care
Retired dressage rider Victoria Nodiff-Netanel bought miniature horse Black Pearl in 2008 in California when the foal was six months old. The horse's outgoing nature inspired her to start the charity Mini Therapy Horses. With eight other minis, Black Pearl visits a locked psychiatric unit at a Los Angeles veterans' hospital, where patients pet and hug the horses to feel less isolated.
