CBIC orders immediate halt to GST arrests ahead of law change

The CBIC has told CGST field formations to immediately stop arrests and adopt GST Council recommendations on e-way bill inspections and a minimum ₹10,000 threshold for show-cause notices. The changes need amendments to the CGST Act, due from April 1, 2027. The interim move follows expert concerns that the Council's 57th-meeting recommendations lacked legal backing without legislation.
