RSPB says fire-hit Minsmere reserve will take 20 years to recover

Nearly three months after a huge wildfire broke out on July 29, RSPB Minsmere says its wildlife 'will never really be the same again'. The blaze spread from the reserve's edge to neighbouring Dunwich Heath on the Suffolk coast, and its cause remains unknown. Staff fear long-term harm to invertebrates, plants and reptiles, with recovery taking 20 years or more.
