'We have become marksvaadis': Education minister flags marks obsession

Union education minister Prahlad Joshi, launching CBSE's Experience Centre at its New Delhi headquarters, criticised a culture of 'marksvaadis' obsessed with exam scores and rote learning, saying it hurts students' self-confidence and linking the pressure to student suicides. The 6,000 sq ft centre has 12 zones and 21 exhibits meant to help students explore interests beyond examinations.
