Why cows struggle to walk down stairs, explained by a vet

Cows can climb slopes and cross uneven fields but often struggle going downstairs, says Dr Vinod Sharma of DCC Animal Hospital, Gurugram. Descending requires controlling body weight while lowering repeatedly, and human-sized steps don't suit their limbs. Side-set eyes also limit depth perception, making step edges hard to judge, while their cautious nature adds hesitation.
