Range Energy's battery trailer pitches big diesel savings for fleets

California startup Range Energy, founded by former Tesla staff, has published an analysis showing its electrified trailer, with its own battery and motors, can cut fleet diesel use by about a third. Because the trailer helps pull its own weight, the diesel tractor works less hard. The pitch comes as diesel prices have nearly doubled in under a year.
