Hubble finds supernova winds may have slowed the universe's escape from darkness
Observations with NASA's Hubble Space Telescope suggest powerful winds from exploding stars may block ultraviolet radiation from leaving galaxies, the opposite of a leading theory. Scientists had thought such winds helped clear the hydrogen fog that filled the early universe about 13 billion years ago. The study, involving University of Michigan astronomers, was published in Nature Astronomy.
