Heavy rain shuts schools in parts of Tamil Nadu as Bay of Bengal system intensifies

Schools in several Tamil Nadu districts stayed shut on Monday, October 26, amid heavy rain. The India Meteorological Department said a depression over the Bay of Bengal moved south-westwards and intensified into a deep depression. Pamban logged 11.4 cm of rain till 5.30 am, Coimbatore 8 cm, while Vijayanagaram in the Nilgiris and Palani recorded 7 cm each.
