Twin and triplet embryos found in wild Burmese python eggs, a first for snakes
Scientists found twin and triplet embryos inside two eggs laid by a single wild Burmese python in Florida's Big Cypress National Preserve, the first recorded triplet embryos in a snake. The radio-tagged female laid 37 eggs in May 2024; 32 hatched normally, while two non-viable eggs held five dead embryos. The findings were published in the journal Ecology and Evolution.
