Hidden aggressive cells found in 'lower-risk' childhood cancers

Researchers have found that some rhabdomyosarcoma tumours classed as lower risk contain hidden groups of highly aggressive cells, which may explain why certain children fare badly. The study, in Cancer Research, involved the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Cambridge, Great Ormond Street Hospital and UCL. The muscle-tissue cancer mostly affects under-15s, with about 55 UK cases a year. Findings could help match treatment to real risk.
