What happens when ALSO's pedal-by-wire e-bike runs out of battery

The ALSO TM-B e-bike has no mechanical link between pedals and rear wheel; pedalling generates electricity that drives the wheel. To see what happens when the battery dies, owner Aaron Draczynski ran his Launch Edition down from 31% charge. Rather than cutting out, the bike progressively restricted its assist, eventually entering a low-power state called 'Infinite Turtle Mode'.
