Sri Lankan Navy arrests seven Rameswaram fishermen near Katchatheevu

The Sri Lankan Navy arrested seven fishermen from Rameswaram and Thangachimadam around 1am on Sunday on charges of poaching, while they were fishing between Katchatheevu islet and Mannar North. They were taken with their trawler to a Sri Lankan naval port. Fishermen's leaders condemned the arrests and urged the Centre and State to secure their release.
