Rose-coloured Sahara rock is one of the oldest Mars meteorites ever found
A rose-coloured meteorite found in the Sahara in 2022 is a piece of Mars that formed more than 4.1 billion years ago, NASA-funded scientists have found. Named Teghaza 001 after a salt plain in Mali, the 800-gram rock is one of about 435 known Martian meteorites. A study in Science describes it as a rare snapshot of Mars' ancient crust.
