Ancient DNA shows Ice Age Europeans were more connected than thought
A University of Vienna-led team analysing ancient DNA from human remains and cave sediments found that Gravettian-era Europeans, who lived roughly 34,000 to 25,000 years ago, were more interconnected across east and west than believed. Remains of a woman from about 30,000 years ago at Isturitz Cave in France yielded the oldest genome-wide data from southwestern Europe. The study appears in Science Advances.
