Australian council refuses to display Gaza children memorial artwork

Shoalhaven City Council in New South Wales has refused to show Phil Buehler's Wall of Tears, which honours 18,457 children killed in Gaza between October 2023 and July 2025, citing an 'unacceptable' safety risk. It had asked organisers to look into armed guards and cut the show from eight days to three. The work was displayed outside Parliament House in Canberra in September.
