GitHub's Copilot Fusion routes coding tasks across AI models to cut costs

GitHub has unveiled Copilot Fusion at its Universe event, a system that picks and coordinates different AI models for coding tasks rather than being a model itself. GitHub said Fusion Max scored 60 against 58 for Claude Code on Opus 5.5 Max on a coding agent index, using about half the cost and finishing tasks 40% faster.
