Small cars still rule India's roads, says Maruti chairman Bhargava

Maruti Suzuki chairman R C Bhargava said small cars remain in strong demand, citing sales of 398,000 small cars against 162,000 SUVs in the first half of FY27. He credited last year's GST cut on cars under four metres, from 28% to 18%, for reviving demand among lower-income buyers. First-time buyers now make up 54% of Maruti's sales.
