Solar storm that delayed an English train was in 1848, not 1841
A 16-minute train delay in Exeter, England, long cited as an early case of a solar storm disrupting technology, actually happened on October 18, 1848, not 1841, researchers say. A railway timetable showed the line did not exist in 1841. Using railway records, newspapers and magnetic field data, scientists corrected the date in a study published in the journal Space Weather.
