Telangana's Dr Ruth becomes one of India's first Dalit trans women with an MD

Dr Koyyala Ruth John Paul, 31, from Khammam in Telangana, has cleared her MD in Emergency Medicine and works at Hyderabad's ESIC Hospital, making her one of India's first Dalit trans women to do so. Raised by a daily-wage labourer mother after her father's death in 2006, she now hopes to get her gender corrected on records and work in a government hospital.
