IITs have far fewer mental health counsellors than UGC advises: RTI

RTI data shows several IITs have far fewer mental health counsellors than the UGC's recommended one per 500 students. IIT Kharagpur has one for every 1,136 students, IIT Roorkee one per 1,317 and IIT-BHU one per 4,750. Kharagpur reported 10 student suicides in five years. Only IIT Ropar met the UGC norm.
