Hundreds of thousands march across France over schools and policing
At least 400,000 people marched in cities across France on Saturday, by government estimates, backing schoolchildren's demands for more teachers and repairs to crumbling buildings; unions put the figure at double. In Paris, at least 110,000 marched, also protesting the cost of living and heavy-handed policing. The largely peaceful rallies ended with clashes as masked groups threw bottles.
