Cabinet clears ₹7,396-crore scheme to train panchayat leaders

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Gram Swaraj Yojana, a ₹7,395.55-crore scheme to strengthen planning and governance in gram panchayats from 2026-27 to 2030-31. About 32 lakh elected representatives and functionaries across 2.55 lakh panchayats will be trained. An upgrade of the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, it offers digital handholding and a more holistic approach.
