Keralam crosses one lakh registered doctors, raising job and quality worries

Keralam now has 1,13,023 registered medical practitioners, RTI data from the Kerala State Medical Council shows. Nearly a third, 31,446 doctors, registered between 2021 and 2025, with 7,383 added in 2025 alone and 2,695 more by October 8 this year. Kannur ophthalmologist and public health activist Dr K.V. Babu, who obtained the data, flagged concerns about unemployment and healthcare quality.
