India ranks seventh globally and third in Asia among countries most targeted by cyberattacks, Microsoft's Nicholas Butts said at the NDTV World Summit 2026. He warned AI is already helping criminals run ransomware and espionage campaigns, citing China-based group Storm 3168 and the AI-built EvilTokens service, which hit over 10,000 organisations in 120 countries. Microsoft screens about five billion emails daily.
