How IceCube catches 'ghost particles' from deep space
Buried in Antarctic ice, the IceCube Neutrino Observatory is detecting neutrinos from distant cosmic sources with up to 10 billion times the energy of those from the Sun. Neutrinos carry no electric charge, have a tiny mass and pass through matter almost unhindered. Physicist Francis Halzen won this year's Nobel Prize in Physics for his role in IceCube and its discoveries.
