Met Gala drops Galliano show, unveils ‘extraORDINARY’ 2027 theme

New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has replaced a planned John Galliano retrospective with a new Met Gala exhibition theme, “extraORDINARY,” running from 9 May 2027 to 9 January 2028. The Galliano show was dropped after criticism of the designer’s past antisemitic remarks. The museum says the new show will explore unexpected design possibilities in everyday objects.
