UP bans artificial colours in chutneys served with momos and samosas
Uttar Pradesh's Food Safety and Drug Administration has barred vendors from adding colours to chutneys after prohibited industrial dyes were found in food. Vendors are advised to use tomatoes, beetroot, coriander and mint instead, and Kashmiri chilli for kebabs and tikkas. Non-food-grade dyes such as Rhodamine B in cotton candy and ice lollies are also prohibited.
