Golden eagle chick fledges on Scottish grouse moor for first time
A golden eagle chick named Beaky Junior has become the first to fledge from a nest on a managed grouse moor in southern Scotland, in the Moffat Hills. The Restoring Upland Nature project called it a hugely significant milestone, since most bird-of-prey persecution is recorded on gamebird land. Local gamekeepers named the chick, and the region's golden eagle numbers have reached a record of over 50.
