Fertiliser sales slump as El Niño dry spell cuts farm demand

Domestic sales of all fertilisers, including urea, fell in April-September 2026 versus a year earlier, reflecting deficient rains and El Niño's impact on farms. Complex NPKS fertilisers dropped the most at 22.2%, followed by muriate of potash at 11.7%, while DAP and SSP slipped only 0.6% and 1.4%. Urea production and imports, meanwhile, rose 4.3% and 40.5%.
