Skipping blood pressure pills weakens treatment benefits, study finds
An analysis of 91,339 people across nine clinical trials found that taking blood pressure medicine consistently brings bigger benefits. Among participants with high adherence, systolic pressure fell by 5.2 mmHg more than with placebo, compared with 3.0 mmHg for those with low adherence. Major cardiovascular events were 11% lower with regular use, while the drop was not significant for irregular users.
