World Pasta Day: Mumbai's pasta-only restaurants are booming

Pasta in Mumbai has moved beyond penne in pink sauce, with dedicated pasta bars serving handmade shapes and compact menus. A 2024 industry report found 56% of Mumbaikars who dine out prefer Italian food. India's pasta market was valued at about $1.2 billion in 2025. Sisters Afshaa and Nousheen Rajkotwala opened the 28-seat Pomodoro in early 2025.
