Sydney show traces 1,500 years of art inspired by Vishnu
'Avatar: Forms of Vishnu' at the Art Gallery of New South Wales gathered nearly 200 works from South and Southeast Asia spanning 1,500 years. Sculpture, painting, textiles, photography, jewellery and installations explored how artists reimagined the Hindu preserver deity. Co-curator Chaitanya Sambrani said it was Sydney's first such exhibition on Indian mythology in two decades.
