SC warns it may bar bail in digital arrest cases targeting seniors

The Supreme Court said on Wednesday it may, if needed, restrain courts from granting bail to those arrested in 'digital arrest' scams that cheat senior citizens of their life savings. A bench led by CJI Surya Kant refused to club cases against a woman accused of providing a mule account, noting one victim, an 81-year-old Ernakulam resident, lost ₹1.9 crore.
