Shivakumar urges PM Modi to revise sugar MSP, ease ethanol curbs

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a revision of sugar's minimum selling price, unchanged at ₹31 per kg since 2019 while cane FRP rose from ₹2,750 to ₹3,650 per tonne. He also flagged an October 22 order barring ethanol from cane juice and B-heavy molasses, which earned state distilleries ₹5,803.70 crore last year.
