Study warns glacier avalanches could threaten 400 Badrinath buildings

A scientific study of three hanging glaciers above Badrinath warns ice avalanches could expose nearly 400 buildings. Using remote sensing and the RAMMS simulation model, researchers found the most hazardous site could affect 398 buildings, 2.66 km of transport infrastructure, a helipad and 15.57 hectares of forest. They urge early warning systems and better land-use planning.
