Comets unlikely to have delivered life's building blocks to Earth, study finds
A University of Cambridge-led study suggests comets probably did not seed early Earth with the molecules needed for life. Computer models showed comets travel too fast and hit at too steep an angle for fragile organics like hydrogen cyanide to survive. Such delivery would be a one-off fluke at best, though Mars, with its thinner atmosphere, was a slightly likelier target.
