Daily fibre supplement eased knee arthritis pain in trial
In a University of Nottingham trial published in Nutrients, people with knee osteoarthritis who took the prebiotic fibre inulin daily reported significantly less pain, better grip strength and lower pain sensitivity. Participants also stuck with it more easily: just 3.6% on inulin alone dropped out versus 21% on physiotherapy alone. Researchers linked the benefits to gut bacteria and the hormone GLP-1.
