Fabric cover slowed melting on Chinese glacier, study finds
Researchers covered about 500 square metres of Dagu Glacier No. 17 on the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau with a non-woven geotextile in August 2020 and monitored it until October 2021. Melting fell by 27% in the first two months and by 15% over a year, according to a study in Remote Sensing. High costs and difficult access limit wider use of the method.
