US judge rules Maurene Comey was illegally fired

A US federal judge has ruled that the justice department illegally fired Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI director James Comey. She lost her job as a federal prosecutor in New York in July 2025 and sued, saying she was dismissed because of her father, a Trump critic. Judge Jesse Furman ordered her reinstatement with back pay; the department plans to appeal.
