High blood sugar may boost immune cells' cancer-fighting power, study finds
A study in The Journal of Immunology found tumours grew more slowly in mice with high blood sugar, as the sugar changed their T cells to fight cancer better. The effect vanished when insulin controlled their sugar. Similar signalling changes appeared in human blood samples. Senior author Dr Anamika Bose of NIPER said the aim is better T-cell therapies, not using high sugar as treatment.
